Michelle Houldershaw established the charity in 2002, recognising there was no formal support for people who had not suffered a serious accident. She used her own car accident compensation money ro run the charity. CAVO provides support to anyone who has been affected by car accidents. A person involved in a car accident, an accident with a car, their family, friends, carers and witnesses.
Our Board of Directors is extremely varied. We currently have board members with legal, financial, education backgrounds and members of our own beneficiary group. It does not matter what your background we welcome any volunteer to join our board.
CAVO currently relies totally on volunteers to run the charity. We value all people involved in helping us to provide our services. Volunteers give their time up for a number of reasons and we believe that all volunteers at CAVO should receive more praise than any paid staff team. We regularly recognise their efforts and present them with awards. Our volunteers are made up of ex and current beneficiaries, university students, business people, people have no (recent) work experience, who are looking to get future paid work and much more.
Cavo is run entirely by volunteers, who give up their time to support other people affected by car accidents, organise fundraising and update the website. If you would like to help, we would love to hear from you! It does not matter what your skills or predicaments are, we can find a role for you. Please get in touch by contacting us cavo@sheafhf.com or by writing to the address on the contact page.
CAVO aims to work towards an effective and efficient chairty. The needs of our beneficiaries are paramount and we strive to meed their individual needs.
